Top seeded Perham hosted number eight Barnesville in an elimination round game on Tuesday in the Section 8AA Baseball Tournament. The Trojans held a 10-9 lead heading into the bottom of the sixth inning, however, Perham scored three times in the inning, taking a 12-10 lead, which they held through a scoreless seventh inning.
Blaiz Schmidt earned the win in relief, allowing 1 earned run in his 3 innings of work.
Hitting leaders for Perham were Austin Aanenson (5-5, RBI, 3R), Ben Shumansky (3-5, 2 Home Runs), Gage Germolus (2-4, RBI) and Logan Pulju (1-2, HR, 2RBI, R, 2BB).
Travis Affield (4-5, RBI, R, SB) led the Trojans at the plate. Bryce Krueger was 1-for-5 with 3 runs batted in and a run scored. Other leaders were Collin Morey (3-4, 2RBI, 2R, 3SB), John Roller (2-3, 2R, SB) and Carson Hagen (2-5, RBI, R).
Perham will now enter the double elimination tournament with a 2:30pm contest on Thursday and will play a second game that day, win or lose.
