Section 6A Sub-Section Track and Field Meets were held on Thursday with Sub-Section 21 being held in Wheaton and Sub-Section 22 in Pillager.  The top six individuals in each event in each subsection advance to the section meet, along with the next four best times or distances from all of the sub-sections combined.  For relays, it’s the top 3 that advance in each subsection and then the next two best teams from all of the sub-sections combined.

Ashby/Brandon-Evansville Head Coach Zachary Traphagen said, “It was a great afternoon/evening for a meet and the kids sure didn't disappoint. We have to wait to see what the Wildcard entries are officially for the Section meet program, but it appears as though we'll have 12 athletes advance to Sections. It was again another Meet filled with PR's all over the place from these kids. Even the athletes whose seasons end tonight, they end on a very high note which is what the goal should be every year. We also had a new school record set by Lucea Wales in the 200 meter dash with her time of 26.22, nearly 1.5 seconds faster than her seed time going into the meet. We couldn't be more proud as a coaching staff of this team for their attitudes and efforts that they've shown all season long. We'll take tomorrow off to rest up and heal, then get back to work again on Monday.”

Ashby/Brandon-Evansville girls’ qualifiers:
Katrina Buchholz (discus), Lucea Wales (long jump, triple jump, 300 hurdles, 200 meter dash), Skylar Bitzan (100, 200, 4x100 relay), Ashley Paulsen (800, 1600), Taylor Dingwall (4x100 relay), EmmaLee Brethorst (4x100 relay) and Catherine Koefod (4x100 relay).

“All season Coach Brian Hovland and I have told our teams the goal is to be our best at championship time,” Coach Brady Speicher explained. “We left the meet with many athletes improving personal best and beating their projected ranking.
