Ben (Dove) Schierer, number one singles player for the Fergus Falls boys’ tennis team won his first two matches in the Section 8A individual tennis tournament, advancing to Thursday’s round against the number one seed, Ryan Maddock from Osakis. The match will be played at Minnewaska Area High School in Glenwood at 10:00am.
Schierer won his first round match against Tenzin Dahl of Minnewaska Area, 6-2, 6-3 and then defeated Kenny Schmiesing of New London-Spicer, 6-2, 6-0.
Luke Schroeder of the Otters lost his opening singles match to Isaac Maddock of Osakis, 6-0, 6-0.
In doubles play, the team of Jack Garmen and Reggie Winjum of Crookston eliminated Ethan Leopold and Reno Schierer of Fergus Falls, 2-6, 7-5, 6-2. The team of Ethan Quelle and Connor Quelle of Minnewaska Area then knocked out Carter Ness and Grant Ackerson of the Otters, 6-3, 6-1.
