Alexandria Girls Win 2-Day Event at Bunker Hills

Alexandria won the Tri-State Preview Invitational Girls Golf Tournament in Coon Rapids on Saturday.  The event was a 2-day tournament played at Bunker Hills Golf Club and featured 16 teams competing.  The Cardinals led by 7 strokes after the first day of the tournament on Friday and was able to increase that margin of victory by another 10 shots with their play on Saturday.  The event featured 11 of the twenty ranked teams in the state.

 

The Cardinals winning total was 638 (320-318) and Eastview was second with 655 (327-328).  Third place went to Detroit Lakes with a 667 (327-340) and Chanhassen (341-331) and Minnetonka (345-327) tied for fourth with scores of 672.  Edina was sixth at 680 (343-337), followed by Chaska (353-339=692), Stillwater Area (359-344=703), East Ridge (361-347=708), Benilde-St. Margaret’s (361-358=719), Lac qui Parle Valley (370-361=731), Orono (397-369=766), Northfield (371-397=768), Totino-Grace (392-388=780), Jordan (375-406=781) and Lakeville North (416-409=825).

Madi Hicks of Chanhassen claimed medalist honors with an impressive 6-under par score of 138 (69-69).  Hannah Boraas of the lady Cardinals was second with a 151 (75-76) and Kiely Hanson of Minnetonka claimed third with a 153 (76-77).  Cora Larson of Alexandria was in a 3-way tie for fourth place with a 156 (77-79).

Rounding out the scoring for Alexandria were Lauren Rebrovich (84-77=161) in a tie for ninth place, Rachel Bowen (85-86=171) in a tie for 21st place, Aisling O’Connor (84-88=172) in a tie for 23rd place and Ellie Sticha (99-94=193) in 63rd place.

“The team will now enjoy some quality practice time before playing in the Section 8AAA golf tournament on Tuesday, May 31 and Wednesday, June 1,” reported Head Coach Tim Zupfer.
