After giving up five runs in the first inning, Fergus Falls starting pitcher Colin Becker settled down and pitched five more strong innings, holding the Alexandria Cardinals to only one more run the rest of the way.  The Otters outhit the Cardinals 10-9, but lost 6-5.

Alexandria was led by Reed Reisdorf (2-3, RBI, R), JD Hennen (2-3, 2B, RBI, R, SB), Jaxon Schoenrock (1-2, 3B, 2RBI, R, BB), Nate Hammerback (1-3, 2B, R) and Grady Anderson (1-3, RBI).  Will Suchy (4IP, 7H, 3R, 2ER, 0BB, 6K) was the winning pitcher and Matt Hornstein (3IP, 3H, 2R, 2ER, 2BB, 3K) finished up on the mound.

Will Gronwold (3-4, 2R) and Isaac Johnson (3-3, 2B, 3RBI) led the Otters at the plate.  Carston Fronning (2-4, RBI) and Ethan Gronwold (1-3, RBI) each knocked in a run and Becker doubled in three at bats. Becker gave up 9 hits, walked one and struck out two.

“This was a great high school baseball game,” said Fergus Falls Head Coach Kevin Pearson.  “We played very well tonight.  We could’ve easily given up after the first inning, but we kept battling and chipping away.  I’m very proud of the effort tonight.  We got better today.”

The Otters next game is Saturday at 2:0pm against St. Cloud Crush.
