The Otter Boys golf team hosted a CLC event on Wednesday at Pebble Lake Golf Club in Fergus.  The Otters used their home course knowledge while playing in some of the windiest weather they have ever experienced.  The boys finished 3rd out of 8 CLC teams with a score of 332.  Sartell won the event with an impressive 309 while Alexandria shot a 312 to place 2nd. There was a tie for 4th place behind the Otters between Brainerd and Willmar who both shot a 333.

Fergus was led by Sophomore Ryan Nelson who posted a very impressive round of 76.  That 76 tied for Ryan's low score in tournament play and he did it on a day where conditions were extremely difficult.  "I'm so proud of Ryan, he was actually 2 under through 12 holes and had it rolling for a while.  Holes 13 through 17 were playing extremely difficult with the huge winds.  He really showed some toughness out there," said coach Matt McGovern.

Nelson ended up 5th in the tournament out of 54 golfers with his impressive round.  Other scores that counted for the Otters were Riley McGovern with an 84, Gavin Goepferd with an 85, and Adam Kennedy with an 87.  Charlie Fuder and Sam Dirkman also competed and they both finished with a 90.

Since the boys were hosting the event, they had the chance to have 3 additional golfers play in the tournament.  Sophomore Luke Norgard shot a 91 in his 2nd varsity meet.  Junior Aidan Swenson finished with a 93 in his first varsity meet, and 8th grader Quintin Kuehl added a 99 in his first meet.  The Otters will play again in Willmar on Friday morning.
