Hornets Beat Storm Twice Thanks to Late Inning Runs

Frazee won a softball double header from Breckenridge/Wahpeton on Wednesday, winning game one 7-6 and taking the nightcap 14-8.

Frazee trailed 6-3 after five innings in game one, but scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth and earned a walk-off win with two more in the bottom of the seventh.  Anna Drewes (2-3, 2B, 2RBI, 2R), Kiley Karger (1-4, 2RBI, 2B) and Kate Vigen (2-4, 2SB, 3R) were the hitting leaders for the Hornets.  Annika Reierson stole 3 bases and drove in a run with a base hit in three at bats.  Malena Mahoney (7IP, 9H, 4ER, 2BB, 6K) was the beneficiary of the 10-hit attack by the Hornets, earning the win in the circle.

Offensive leaders for Breck/Wahp were Abi Bronson (2-3, 2B, 3R), Abby Johnson (1-4, 2RBI) and Ana Erickson (2-4, SB, RBI, R).  The Storm had a total of 9 hits in the game.

Frazee pounded out 17 hits in their game two victory, breaking open a 9-8 game with 4 runs in the top of the seventh to take the win.  The Hornets also capitalized on 7 errors by the Storm, which led to 7 unearned runs.  Karger (3-4, 2RBI, 2R, 2SB), Vigen (3-4, 2R, SB), Faith Hamm (2-5, 2B, 2RBI, 2R, SB), Mahoney (2-5, 2B, SB, RBI, R), Reierson (2-3, 2R, 3SB), Hailee Olson (2-5, 2RBI, R), Ashley Malikowski (2-4, 2RBI, R) and Drewes (1-5, 2RBI, R) all contributed at the plate.

Erickson (3-4, 2B, 2RBI, 2R, SB), McKena Koolmo (2-4, 2RBI, 2SB), Leah DeVries (2-4, RBI, 2R, 2SB), Morgan Bruns (1-4, RBI, R) and Sydni Roberts (1-4, 2B, RBI, R) led the Storm offensively.
