Brandon-Evansville picked up a pair of softball wins over Rothsay on Tuesday in Brandon, winning game one of the double header by the score of 9-6 and completing the sweep with a 17-11 win over the Tigers in game two.

In the first game, B-E banged out 11 hits and capitalized on four Rothsay errors.  Taylin Kramer (5IP, 3H, 3R, 2ER, 6BB, 3K) was the winning pitcher and Kylee Dingwall (2IP, 1H, 3R, 2ER, 5BB, 1K) finished up in the circle.  Leading the way at the plate were Dingwall (3-4, RBI, R), Claire Boesl (2-4, RBI), Maddie Stich (2-4, R), Kramer (1-3, 2RBI, 2R), Kaytlyn Pattrin (1-2, 3B, 2R), Sophie Koep (1-2, R) and Sydney Schaefer (1-3, 2RBI, 2R).

“This game was back-and-forth and one we were glad to come out on top,” said B-E Head Coach Kasi Sieling.  “Taylin and Kylee combined to throw a solid game, and overall, our defense played well behind them.  We made some mistakes on the bases, but were able to string enough hits together to provide our pitchers with the run support they needed.”

The Chargers rode a 19-hit attack to the game two victory as the two teams played sloppy defense, combining for 11 errors in the game.  Leaders were Kiley Lund (3-5, 2RBI, R), Koep (3-3, 3R), Schaefer (2-4, 2RBI, 2R), Kramer (2-4, RBI, 2R), Haddy Baune (2-4, 2RBI, 2R), Pattrin (2-5, 2B, 2RBI, 2R), Dingwall (2-4, 2B, RBI, 3R), Stich (2-5, RBI) and Kendra Klimek (1-1, RBI, R).

“Overall, we did a lot of good things in this game to come out with the win,” reported Coach Sieling.  “The girls did a nice job of hitting the ball hard and being confident in the box.  Claire and Haddy did a solid job in the circle and defensively, we made some really heads up plays, but also have some things we need to clean up after giving the Tigers too many extra outs.  These were two good conference wins and we look forward to taking the field again Wednesday in Fergus Falls against Hillcrest.”
