Barnesville recorded a pair of softball wins over Pelican Rapids on Tuesday, winning 21-2 and 9-8.  The Trojans opened the first game with 17 runs in the first inning and never looked back.  In game two, Barnesville fell behind 6-0 but rallied to take a one-run win over the lady Vikings.

Hitting leaders for Pelican Rapids in the first game were Zayla Arrow (1-2, 2RBI), Sylvia Pesch (1-2, R), Arianna Villagomez (1-1) and Claudia Gurath (1-2).  Barnesville scored their 21 runs on 5 hits, 16 walks and 3 Pelican Rapids errors.  No Barnesville stats were reported.

Kia Nelson (7IP, 11H, 3BB, 6K, 0ER) took the loss in game two.  Nelson (2-3, 3RBI), Villagomez (2-2, 2R) and Zayli Arrow (1-4, RBI) led the offensive attack for the Vikings.

“You can’t give a good team like Barnesville extra outs during innings,” said Pelican Rapids Head Coach Derrick Nelson.  “I am proud of the way our girls competed and had quality at bats in the second game.”

The Vikings will play DGF in another double header on Wednesday.
