The Alexandria girls’ golf team had four of the top five individual scores and posted a top team score of 291 on the first day of the two-day Central Lakes Conference Championship on Monday at Pebble Lake Golf Course in Fergus Falls.  Day two of the championship tournament is Tuesday at Eagle Creek Golf Club in Willmar.

Brainerd stands second in the team competition with a 311 stroke count and Fergus Falls is third with a 340.  They are followed by Willmar at 350, St. Cloud at 380, Sartell at 383 and Sauk Rapids-Rice at 429.  The team scorer from day one will be combined with the team scores from day two to determine the CLC champion.

Hannah Boraas of Alexandria fired a season best 2-under par 70 to take the first day lead.  Cora Larson of the lady Cards is second with an even-par 72 and Lauren Rebrovich of the Cardinals recorded a personal best score of 73 to finish third.  Aisling O’Connor placed fifth on day one with a personal best score of 76.  Rounding out the Alexandria scoring were Ellie Sticha with an 82 and Rachel Bowen with an 85.

“The conditions were good for scoring on Monday as the temperatures were mild and a wind at less than 10 miles per hour,” stated Alexandria Head Coach Tim Zupfer.  “Players were able to take advantage of the scoring conditions to shoot some very good scores, in fact the Cardinals set a new school record by posting a team score of 291.”

Fergus Falls was led by Ellia Soydara with a 79, placing her eighth after day one.  Annika Jyrkas came in with an 80 and is tied for tenth place.  Annie Mayer shot her low round of the year with an 86.  Rounding out the scoring were Lexi Metcalf with a 95, Ella Mayer with a 96 and Olivia Jurgens with a 106.

“In the last two weeks Ellia has been solid,” said Fergus Falls Head Coach Ben Jurgens.  “Most significantly, her course management has really stood out in helping her lower her scores.”
