The Fergus Falls boys sent a smaller group to compete in Wahpeton Monday, May 16 at the Last  Chance Track and Field Meet. “We are gearing up for our competition at the State True Team meet on Saturday,” said Head Coach Derek Meyer. “This meet is giving an opportunity to those that may not compete on Saturday.”

Fergus Falls placed third in the team competition with 80 points.  Wahpeton won the event with 171 and Fargo North was second with 111.  Fourth place went to Rothsay with 69 and Ashby/Brandon-Evansville was sixth with 57.5 points.

“We came away with some solid performances and placing,” noted Coach Meyer. “It was a very successful day and when these boys were given an opportunity they came away shining bright.”

Darius Lockett had an impressive run in the 400 meter dash, placing 1st. “He had been running on the 4x400 relay for us this season and we wanted to get an open time for him,” stated Meyer.

Owen Spain was second in the 400 with a season best time in that event.  David Ronnevik had a nice race in the 1600 finishing second with a season best time.  Logan Bredenberg grabbed 3rd place in the 3200 finishing with a huge personal best time dropping over 18 seconds.

The Boys will compete next at OTC on Friday for a 9th/10th grade meet and then follow with a trip to Stillwater Saturday for True Team State.
