Lady Cards Win Pre-Section Meet at Rich Springs Golf Club

The Alexandria girls’ golf team traveled to the Rich Springs Golf Club Friday morning to participate in the pre-section event.  All 12 section teams had the opportunity to play the course, prior to the Section 8AAA Golf Tournament to be held on Tuesday, May 31 and Wednesday, June 1.  “After getting stormed out after five holes on Thursday, the girls were happy to play Friday,” stated Alexandria Head Coach Tim Zupfer. “The grounds crew and staff at the course did an excellent job getting the course ready for play after all the rain the past couple of days.”

Alexandria won the team title with a score of 316 and Brainerd was second with a 339.  They were followed by Detroit Lakes 350, Bemidji 377, St. Cloud 379, Moorhead 381, Becker 383, Willmar 390, Buffalo 395, Sartell 400, Rocori 455 and Sauk Rapids-Rice 492.

Hannah Boraas of the lady Cardinals was the medalist with a 74 and her teammate, Cora Larson was second with a 76.  Aisling O’Connor and Lauren Rebrovich tied for fourth with rounds of 83.  Rounding out the scoring for the Lady Cards was an 89 from Rachel Bowen and a 95 from Ellie Sticha.

The Cardinals continue a busy stretch of play with two conference championship meets at Fergus Falls on Monday and at Willmar on Tuesday.
