Perham Sweeps Pelican Rapids Behind Superb Pitching from Germolus and Schmidt

The Perham baseball team swept two games from Pelican Rapids on Thursday, winning game one 10-0 behind the no-hit pitching of Gage Germolus (5IP, 7K, 1BB, 0H, 0R) and taking the nightcap, 5-1.

Perham jumped to a 7-0 lead after the first inning of game one.  The Yellowjackets were led at the plate  by Jack Mensing (2-3, RBI, 2R), Gamble Bye (1-3, 3B, 3RBI, R), Rian Solberg (1-1, 2RBI, R), Austin Aanenson (1-2, RBI, R, 2BB) and Blaiz Schmidt (1-3, RBI, R).  Timmy Guler (4IP, 5K, 5BB, 7H, 7ER) took the loss for the Vikings.

Blaiz Schmidt (6IP, 4K, 1BB, 1R, 0ER, 1H) was dominant on the mound in the game two victory.  Offensive leaders for Perham were Aanenson (2-3, RBI, R, BB), Evan Kovash (1-2, R), Chas Melvin (1-3, R) and Ben Shumansky (1-3, 2B).  Peyton Blakeway had a double for the only Pelican Rapids hit.  Austin Stoll (2.1IP, 3H, 2R, 1ER, 2K, 1BB) was the losing pitcher and Ethan Sjostrom (3.2IP, 3H, 3R, 2ER, 2K, 3BB) finished up in relief.
