Perham Defeats Frazee Twice in HOL Double Dip

Perham won both ends of a Heart O’ Lakes Conference baseball double header with Frazee on Tuesday, taking game one 11-2 and winning game two 12-1.

The Yellowjackets broke a 2-2 tie in the first game when they put five runs on the board in the fifth inning and added four more in the sixth.  Austin Aanenson (5IP, 3H, 2ER, 8K, 2BB) was the winning pitcher and Austin Schmelz (2IP, 2H, 0R, 3K) finished up on the mound.  Hitting leaders were Chas Melvin (2-4, 2B, 2RBI, R), Rian Solberg (3-4, 2B, RBI, 2R), Gage Germolus (1-3, 2B, RBI, 2R), Aanenson (1-3, 2B, RBI, R), Jack Mensing (1-4, 2B, RBI, R) and Logan Pulju (1-2, RBI, R).

Scott Seim led Frazee with two hits, including a home run, in 3 at bats.  Seim had two runs batted in and scored once.  Zach Longfors added a double and scored a run.

Perham took control of game two early on, scoring four times in the second and six times in the third.  They banged out 11 hits in the contest and held the Hornets to just a double by Mark Jarosweski.

Ashton Detloff (3IP, 5K, 0H, 0R) was the winning pitcher for Perham.  Leading the way at the plate were Aanenson (2-2, 2RBI, R), Solberg (2-3, 2B, 2RBI, R), Gamble Bye (2-3, 2R), Blaiz Schmidt (2-4, 2RBI) and Chas Melvin (1-2, 2RBI, 2R).  Melvin and Solberg each stole a base.
