Spartan Baseball Team Ends Season with Double Header Split

M State ended their college baseball season with a split of their Sunday double header against Ridgewater in Fergus Falls.  The visiting Warriors won game one, 5-3 and M State finished the season with a 4-3 win in game two.

Jack Howard (5IP, 5H, 3R, 0ER, 1BB, 2K) was the winning pitcher for the Warriors and Brock Depute (5.1IP, 7H, 5ER, 3BB, 1K) took the loss for M State.  Five different players drove in runs and five different players scored for Ridgewater.  Tyler Traphagen (2-3) and Jadrien Keavy (2-3) produced multiple hits in the game.  Leading hitters for the Spartans were Ty Kargar (3-4, R, 2B), Mike Short (1-3, 3B, RBI), Dylan Gertken (1-1, 2B) and Wyatt Halvorson (1-2, R).  Daniel Buendorf drove in two runs in the game.

Game two was won in dramatic fashion as M State scored all four of their runs in the bottom of the seventh for a come from behind walk-off win over the Warriors.  Hitting leaders were Cal Schmitz (3-3, RBI, R), Karger (1-4, 2B, 2RBI, R), Noah Aufdengarten (1-2, RBI) and Jackson Martin (2-3).  The Spartans received excellent pitching from Brett Engelmeyer (6IP, 6H, 3R, 0ER, 4K, 0BB) and Mike Short (1IP, 0H, 0R).
