Spartans Drop 3-2 Decision to NDSCS in Wahpeton

M State traveled to Wahpeton on Wednesday for one 7-inning contest against NDSCS which the Wildcats won, 3-2.  M State tied the game with a run in the top of the sixth, however, the home team regained the lead in the bottom of the inning and kept the Spartans off the board in the seventh.

 

Hunter Wamre (7IP, 5H, 2R, 2ER, 2BB, 7K) went the distance to earn the victory for the Wildcats.  He also delivered a RBI single and was helped along by a solo home run from Aric Heacox and a run-scoring single from Loren JacobsonIsaac Loosmore scored twice and stole a base.

Starting pitcher Jack Ramthun (5IP, 3H, 2R, 0ER, 2BB, 3K) pitched well but was victimized by a pair of errors which led to two unearned runs.  Christian Norby (2-3, 2B, RBI, R), Noah Aufdengarten (1-3, 2B, RBI) and Cal Schmitz (1-3, 2B, R) were the top hitters in the game for M State, while Mike Short (1-2) contributed a base hit.

M State will play two games in Willmar on Saturday against Ridgewater and then will welcome the Warriors to Fergus Falls for a Sunday double header, which will close out their season.
