Spartans Record Two 10-Run Wins Over Anoka-Ramsey

The M State baseball team made it four wins in their past five games when they swept a Monday double header against Anoka-Ramsey in Fergus Falls.  The Spartans outscored the Rams 22-4 over the two games, posting wins of 12-2 and 10-2 as they improved their season record to 9-19.

Wyatt Halvorson (5IP, 4H, 2ER, 1BB, 3K) was the winning pitcher in game one, moving his season record to 4-3.  Ty Kargar (2-3, HR, 5RBI, 2R) and Mike Short (2-3, R) led the Spartans at the plate.  Jackson Martin delivered a home run and four runs batted in.  Christian Norby and Cal Schmitz each scored a pair of runs and Dylan Gertken contributed a double in three at bats.

Will Hoerneman (6IP, 4H, 2ER, 3BB, 5K) was the beneficiary of a 13-hit attack by M State in the second game as Norby launched a home run and knocked in four runs in the game.  He also singled, walked twice and scored twice.  Schmitz (4-4, 2B, 2RBI, 2R) had a perfect day at the plate, Gertken drove in a pair of runs, Noah Aufdengarten went 2-for-3 with a double and Max Brommerich was 1-for-2 with 2 runs scored and one run batted in.

M State will travel to Coon Rapids for two more games against Anoka-Ramsey on Tuesday, will play a double header against NDSCS in Wahpeton on Wednesday and has a home and home double header scheduled with Ridgewater on Saturday in Willmar and on Sunday in Fergus Falls to end their season.
