The West Central Area Boys Track and Field claimed fifth place at the Benson Invitational in their first meet of the season. Head Coach Dave Schleicher said, “The fifth place finish was a good starting block for us. Finally was a term I used as we loaded the bus. Five weeks of training in the gym and the parking lot, it was time for a meet.”
Tyler Stone had a strong showing, winning the discus and placing second in the shot put. Newcomer Isaac Kreft, new to the track and field program this year, placed fourth in the shot put and sixth in the triple jump, prompting this comment from Coach Schleicher, “Isaac has really impressed the coaching staff. I didn’t really know what to expect from his first attempt in the triple jump. I knew he would be explosive, but to go out and jump 33 feet was pretty amazing! Anthony Sykora made an immediate impact in the sprints for us and the high jumpers had strong showings.”
