After taking his Perham Boys Basketball team to the 2021-22 Class AA Tournament, Perham Boys Basketball head coach Dave Cresap has received another honor. Valley City State University will be inducting the longtime Yellowjacket head coach into its Coaches Hall of Fame during a ceremony on June 10 in Valley City.

Perham Activities Director Erin Anderson said Cresap’s value and understanding of hard work and what it means to invest fully into something you are passionate about is the thing that drives him. “His dedication to working with student-athletes to build an overall program is evident in the success that he’s been able to captain as a Head Coach,” Anderson said. “Congratulations to Coach Cresap on this great honor from Valley City State University.”

During the ceremony, Cresap will be presented with the Osmon Icon Coaching Award. Coaches who are inducted into the Hall of Fame receive the award and it honors VCSU alumni who went on to successful and influential coaching careers.

Nominees for the award must be a graduate of VCSU and must have been involved in the coaching profession for a minimum of 10 years.

After completing his 36th season as head coach, 27 of them in Perham, the Yellowjacket head coach holds a record of 644-292 which includes five Class AA Tournament appearances and a Class AA Championship in 2011. Cresap was named the Section 8AA Coach of the Year after the Yellowjackets surged to the Class AA Tournament this March. It was the seventh time he has received that honor. He is a two-time State Coach of the Year in Minnesota and was named the National Coach of the Year. During his coaching tenure in North Dakota, he was the two-time District Coach of the Year in North Dakota.
