The Pelican Rapids softball team recorded a 12-2 win over Ashby on Monday, breaking a 2-2 tie with 3 runs in the bottom of the third, adding 3 more in the fourth and ending the game by the ten-run rule with four more in the fifth.  Kia Nelson (5IP, 3H, 1BB, 6K, 0ER) was the winning pitcher for the lady Vikings.

Our defense did a nice job of settling down after three early errors to play good defense today,” said Head Coach Derrick Nelson.  “It was great to get a game in today, even though it was our first time outside all season.  Special thanks to Trevor Steeves and Daren Toffefson for all of their work to get the field ready to play today.”

Offensive leaders were Sylvia Pesch (2-3, 2R), Arianna Villagomez (2-3, R), Kari Jones (2-3, R), Claudia Gurath (1-4, 2R, 3RBI), Hazel Haugrud (1-4, 2R, RBI) and Zayla Arrow (1-2, RBI, BB).

The Vikings next game will be next Tuesday, April 19 in Hawley.  The game scheduled for Tuesday, April 12 against Barnesville has been postponed until May 17.
