Seniors Scott Seim (P, C, 3B) and Wiley Bachmann (P, SS, 3B) return to lead the Frazee baseball team in 2022.  The Hornets were 6-16 overall and 5-7 in the tough Heart O’ Lakes Conference a year ago.  “Starting out strong and beating a solid DGF team 8-5 to open up the season and having success in the HOL with a relatively young team stand out as season highlights,” commented ninth-year Head Coach Andy Mekalson.

Other starters returning are juniors Mark Jaroszewski (P, 1B) and Zach Longfors (P, 2B, SS).  Other letter winners coming back are juniors Gage Post (P, SS), Kale Ovsak (C, CF) and Caden Frank (OF).

Senior George Flynn (OF) and junior Max Rue (OF, 2B) are expected to fill varsity spots.  “I also have a big group of athletic sophomores chomping at the bit and competing every day to get a chance on the varsity diamond,” noted Coach Mekalson.  “Our weakness is our inexperience at the varsity level for half our squad.  Our strengths are our experience at the varsity level for the other half of our squad, including number one pitcher Scott Seim who has great control and velocity.  Our goal is to exceed 10 wins and work hard every day to improve as a team.”

Mekalson looks for Perham to be the HOL and Section 8AA favorite.  He will be assisted by Brandon Olson, Jason Bauer, Brandon Nguyen and Broden Fleisher.
