The Perham boys’ basketball team shot just 37.2% (16-43) from the field on Tuesday as they suffered a 51-40 loss to second-seeded Caledonia in the quarterfinal round of the Class AA State Basketball Tournament at Target Center. The Yellowjackets were just 5-of-15 from 3-point range and made only 3-of-11 free throws. Perham won the rebounding battle 33-25, including 13 offensive boards.
Caledonia shot 45.2% (19-42) and had 3 players in double figures, led by Elijah King with 17 points. King also led the team with 8 rebounds, 5 assists, 5 steals and 3 blocked shots. Ja’Shon Simpson scored 11 points and snared 7 rebounds, and Thane Meiners contributed 10 points.
Micah Thompson led Perham with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Soren Anderson added 9 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists. Alex Ohm finished with 8 points and 3 assists.
Perham (18-11) will now face Pequot Lakes at 8:00pm Wednesday in a consolation semifinal contest at Gangelhoff Center on the campus of Concordia University in St. Paul.
