Hornets Strong Second Half Comeback Falls Short Against New York Mills

The Henning Hornets trailed 50-30 to New York Mills with ten minutes remaining in their Section 6A North Sub-Section championship game on Tuesday night in Perham.  Senior Tanner Arndt sparked a 20-2 run to bring the Hornets to within two points at 52-50, however, the Eagles were able to hold on for a 65-60 win, advancing to the Section 6A championship game against Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa on Friday night at 7:00pm in Fergus Falls.

Arndt finished with a game high 35 points, making 10-of-11 free throws and hitting 3 of the 8 3-pointers that were made by the Hornets.  Tyson Misegades contributed 10 points, including a pair of 3’s.

Tate Olson led New York Mills with 22 points and 13 rebounds.  Jack Peeters added 13 points and Breck Hensch had 10, including a trio of 3-point field goals in the first half.

Henning scored the first five points of the game and it took Mills over four minutes to get their first points of the night.  With Henning leading 8-7 the Eagles went on a 15-0 run and took a 31-21 lead at the half.  Their fast start to the second half saw them build a 20 point second half lead before Henning fought their way back into the game.

The Hornets end their season with a record of 23-6.

New York Mills takes a 28-1 record into their matchup with BBE on Friday night.
