The Ashby Arrows Boys Basketball Team advanced to the next round of the 6A South Sub-Section playoffs with a 49-41 victory over the Parkers Prairie Panthers on Thursday night.  The Arrows held a 19-6 lead, but the Panthers went on a late run to make the score Ashby 23 Panthers 19 at halftime.

Arrows senior guard Torin Olson led all scorers with 17 points.  He shot 50% (5/10) from three point range.  Jacob Cook was next with 14, 10 of those points were scored in the second half.  Cook also secured 14 rebounds to complete a double-double.  Carson Spangler and Hunter Norby added eight points apiece.  Brodie Ecker rounded out the Arrows scoring with a first half basket.

Cole Koep was the only Panther to reach double figures with 13 points.

The Arrows shot 48% (21/44) overall from the field and chased down 26 total rebounds.

The score was tied at 26 in the second half.  The Arrows finished the game with a 23-15 scoring run to seal the deal.

“The fact that Parkers Prairie is the seventh seed in the sub-section is an indication of how challenging the bracket is,” noted Coach John Holsten of Ashby.  “Hats off to Coach Johnson and his staff for developing a very effective game plan that kept us on our heels for much of the game.  We had three games with the Panthers this season that could have gone either way.”

Next up for Ashby is a 2:45pm tip-off against Hancock on Saturday at Minnewaska Area High School in Glenwood.
