Hamline junior forward Sophie Rausch, Fergus Falls High School graduate, received Co-Player of the Year honors in the MIAC for the 2021-22 Women’s Hockey season.  Sophie was joined by Saint Mary’s senior goaltender Ary Ziakas.

Rausch led the MIAC in both goals scored (14) and points (21) in conference games this season.  She had at least one goal in all but one conference series, while scoring three times on power plays and accounting for a pair of game-winners along the way.  Rausch joins teammate Jordan Hansen, who was MIAC Co-Player of the Year in 2019-20, as the only players in Hamline history to have received the Conference’s top individual honor.

Hamline was 11-5 in the MIAC, finishing second to Gustavus.  They were 13-9 overall.

Tim Lill, who coached Rausch in her high school years at Fergus Falls, was elated at the news, “Sophie left a mark in Fergus as the leading career scorer by 100 points that I don’t believe will ever be touched.  Also, as the leading scorer all 5 years she played.  It’s obvious the longer I coach, the more her talent is magnified.  She has brought that to the college game it it’s tremendously gratifying to witness.  Her game was developed on her own time and is a great example for all future Otters.  I couldn’t be prouder of her accomplishments.”
