The Ashby Boys Basketball Team defeated the Henning Hornets 61-42 on Friday night in Ashby.  The Arrows led 34-21 at the halftime break.  Jacob Cook led all scorers with 27 points.  Torin Olson chipped in with 12.  The Arrows shot 55% (26/47) from the field.  Ashby grabbed 34 rebounds including 13 by Cook to complete a double-double.

“The first half may have been our best half of the season,” reported Ashby Head Coach John Holsten.  “We committed just one turnover against a Henning man-to-man defense that's as active and good as it gets in high school basketball.  We shot 54% (13/24) overall from the field in the half.  Our defense was pretty good too.  Most of Henning's shots were challenged.  The coaches were pleased with the resiliency shown by the boys after being involved in a meat grinder of a game against KMS the night before.”

It was Senior Night in Ashby as ten student athletes played their last regular season game in the Ashby gym, though they'll get one more when the playoffs begin Thursday.  Carson Spangler, Hunter Norby, Torin Olson, Jacob Cook, Jackson Finkelson, Carter Spangler, Sam Sorenson, Sam Heeter, Matson Hoff, and Evan Paulson represent some of the best that Ashby has to offer.  “Their presence on the field, in the gym, on the stage, and in the classrooms of Ashby High School will be missed,” noted Holsten.  “They are a credit to their parents and school, and we can't thank them enough.”

"Ashby was really efficient tonight," said Henning Head Coach Randy Misegades. "We struggled with their size and physicality on both ends of the floor. We have to give them a lot of credit.  They are the best team we’ve seen all season."

Mason Hammer and Tanner Arndt were in double digits for the Hornets with 12 and 11 points, respectively.  Tyson Misegades distributed a team high 5 assists.  Lane Dilly led the Hornets with 6 rebounds.

Henning (21-5) will host the winner of Monday's Section 6A playoff game between Underwood and Norman County East/Ulen-Hitterdal on Thursday at 7:00pm.

Ashby (22-3) has a home playoff game Thursday at 7:00pm against the winner of Monday's battle between Ortonville and Parkers Prairie.
