Barnesville held a 30-23 lead when the Warriors went on a 7-2 run to end the first half trailing by just two points, 32-30. The Trojans were down 61-58 with 1:51 to play in the game when Zach Bredman hit a 3 to tie the game. With the game tied at 63-63 with five seconds left, Bredman came up with a steal and scored the winning points on a layup at the buzzer.
Noah Krause led the Trojans with 14 points. Bredman added a dozen and Jack Nielsen scored 10. Kaden Zenzen contributed 8 points and 10 rebounds. Tate Inniger had 5 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists, while Wyatt Suter gathered 7 rebounds.
Wheaton/Herman-Norcross had two players in double figures, led by Dylan Bainbridge with 17. Clint Determan added 15. Bainbridge also had 5 rebounds and 6 assists, and Determan completed a double-double by securing 10 rebounds, while dishing out 6 assists.
“Wheaton is a very good basketball team,” stated Barnesville Assistant Coach Tracy Hinsz. “They played aggressive and hard from wire-to-wire.”
Barnesville (14-9) will play their final game of the regular season on Friday night at Pelican Rapids.
