Knights pick up 20th win in victory over Battlers

The West Central Area Knights defeated the Battle Lake Battlers 67-52 to finish out their regular season with a 20-4 record.  The Knights shot 40% (24-60). They shot the ball well from the outside making ten 3's on the night. From the free throw line they were 9-14.  Battle Lake was 21-46 for 46%. They made four 3's and shot 6-11 from the line.  The Knights turned the ball over 12 times and forced Battle Lake into 17 turnovers.  Rebound totals were not available.

"Battle Lake is an athletic team that has some good overall size, especially in the guards and they shoot the ball well. They have been in many games this year.  We got up 55-38 but failed to put them away until the final few minutes," said Knights Coach Kraig Hunter.  "We've had a busy three days playing Saturday, Monday, Tuesday and now we are looking forward to preparing for our first playoff game on Saturday."

The Knights placed four players in double figures led by Jacob Strunk with 19 points, 9 rebounds, and 3 steals. Cam Anderson added 15 points, 6 assists, 4 rebounds, and 3 steals; Nas Dotts connected on four 3-pointers to score 12 points, and Cole Anderson had 11 points.

Ryder Staples added 6 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals.  Bryce Kjesbo added two points and senior Tyler Biss added two points on Senior Night.

"Tonight we honored our seniors Tyler Biss and Ryder Staples. They are both quality people that we are very proud of.  We thank them for everything they have given to the program," said Hunter.

Jack Mekalson led the Battlers with 21 points. Noah Mansker added 13, Owen Buehler 7, Mason Deluge 4, Drew Johnson 3, Bricker Bladow 2, and Sam Jossart 2.

The Knights (20-4) will host Eden Valley- Watkins (15-11) in the first round of the Section 3AA playoffs on Saturday in Barrett.
