“We took advantage of three significant scoring runs during the game,” stated Ashby Head Coach John Holsten.  “They occurred at the start of the game, at the end of the half, and the opening minutes of the second half.  The Rockets responded with two scoring runs of their own and stayed within striking distance.”

Leaders for Ashby were Jacob Cook (26 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists, 4 steals), Torin Olson (11 points, 2 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals), Hunter Norby (11 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 steals), Carson Spangler (6 points, 1 rebound, 3 assists, 1 steal) and Sam Sorenson (4 points, 7 rebounds).  Sam Heeter contributed 2 points and 2 assists.

Ashby has a road game at Hancock on Tuesday night before closing out their home schedule with games against KMS on Thursday and Henning on Friday.

Underwood was led by Kaleb Hammes with 12 points, Cole Peterson with 11 and Drew Evavold with 9.

“Senior Reed Solberg added 4 points and did a great job rebounding the basketball,” noted Underwood Head Coach Kellen Shebeck.  “Proud of the effort our lone senior gave us tonight.”

Hudson Risbrudt and Jayden Harig each chipped in with 4 points.

“We took a good punch from Ashby to start the game, but the guys found a rhythm and were able to cut into that lead,” commented Coach Shebeck. “I’m proud of the way the guys fought tonight, and we started to shoot the ball a bit better as well. These kids continue to impress me with their attitude and toughness. They don’t back down from anything, and it’s a joy to coach and be a part of.”

Underwood will host Park Christian on Tuesday and Hillcrest on Friday to close out their regular season schedule.
