The Perham Yellowjackets played a shutdown defensive game in Fergus Falls on Saturday afternoon as they held the Otters to 12 first half points and 17 in the second half in their 51-29 victory at the Kennedy Secondary School Gold Gymnasium.  Perham shot 41% overall, 45% (9-20) on 3-point shots and dominated the rebounding game, 37-17.

Soren Anderson had a big day, registering a double-double with 23 points and 15 rebounds.  Alex Ohm contributed 9 points and 6 boards, Chas Melvin had 9 points and Micah Thompson only managed 2 points, but had 6 rebounds and 6 assists.

Perham struggled to score early in the game as it took the Yellowjackets seven minutes to record their first basket.  A 3-pointer at the buzzer by Jacob Daniels lifted their halftime lead to 19-12.

Fergus Falls was led by Luke Newman (9 points, 8 rebounds) and Kaden Conklin (9 points).  Henry Bethel added 6 points for the Otters, who shot just 27% (10-36) from the field and made only 1-of-16 3’s, missing their first 12 tries from beyond the arc.

Perham (12-9) will travel to Breckenridge for their final Heart O’ Lakes Conference game on Monday.

Fergus Falls (8-14) will host Willmar on Tuesday, travel to Sauk Rapids-Rice for a 6:00pm makeup game on Wednesday, return home to play Rocori on Friday and then entertain Alexandria in another makeup game at 1:15pm Saturday.
