Jacob Cook had a monster game leading all scorers with 31 points in a 60-44 Ashby win over Brandon-Evansville on Friday night.  He also grabbed 20 rebounds.  Torin Olson was the only other Arrow to reach double figures with 12 points.  He too was active on the glass coming down with 8 rebounds.

Carson Spangler nailed 3 three-point baskets early in the second half to help provide Ashby with a good working margin.  Hunter Norby finished out the Arrow scoring with 8 points.  He also chased down 6 rebounds.  Brodie Ecker played tough one on one defense.  Carter Spangler and Matson Hoff provided solid minutes off the bench after a couple of players’ experienced foul trouble.

“Our defensive energy was very good for the entire game,” commented Head Coach John Holsten of Ashby.  “B-E made shots that were well-defended. One downside for us is the Chargers attempted 22 free throws to our 7 tries.  The boys were a little frustrated but held their composure for the most part.”

If the Arrows (19-2) defeat the Underwood Rockets Monday night in Underwood, Ashby will finish 11-1 in the Little Eight Conference and share the Conference Championship with the Hillcrest Comets.

Brandon-Evansville was led by Tyler Bitzan’s 10 points.  Titus Fuller scored 9, including career point number 1000.

“I am very proud of Titus,” stated Brandon-Evansville Head Coach Trent Hintermeister.  “Titus has put in countless hours to be where he is right now.  Titus loves the game, loves being a teammate, and loves the grind.”

Dezmond White and Micah Fuller contributed 8 and 7 points, respectively.

Brandon-Evansville (12-11) is at Parkers Prairie on Monday, hosts CGB on Tuesday and entertains Wheaton/Herman-Norcross in their regular season finale on Friday night.
