Grace VanErp registered a double-double (22 points, 12 rebounds) on Friday night, leading the Battle Lake girls’ basketball team to 59-46 Little Eight Conference win over Hillcrest Lutheran Academy on the Battlers Senior Night.

Ady Tysdal was also in double digits with 14 points.  Emmie Lundquist and Morgan Malone contributed 9 points apiece.

Hillcrest fell behind 36-20 and scored the last six points of the half to trim the Battlers lead to 36-26 at halftime, but rallied to cut the lead to 36-30 by scoring the first four points of the second half as well.  Battle Lake regained a double digit advantage and led by as many as fifteen in the second half.

“Our girls started out a little slow and Battle Lake took advantage of it and got out to a quick lead,” reported Hillcrest Head Coach Hannah Clark.  “Our girls fought back hard the entire night, but didn’t have the legs to overcome the slow start.  We got out-rebounded and gave the Battlers multiple opportunities to put the ball in the basket and they capitalized on those chances.”

Madi Ballweg led the Comets with 22 points and Ruby Peterson added 14.  Regan Wiertzema controlled 10 rebounds for the lady Comets.

“Madi had a great offensive game for us,” said Coach Clark.  “She was aggressive taking the ball to the hoop and had some great finishes.”

Battle Lake finishes the regular season schedule with a record of 16-7.  Their 10-2 Little Eight Conference mark puts them second to Underwood in the LEC standings.

Hillcrest ends regular season play at 10-14.  They were 5-7 in the Little Eight.
