Rothsay Closes Home Season with Overtime Loss to Parkers Prairie

The Rothsay boys’ basketball team hosted Parkers Prairie Friday in the final Little Eight Conference matchup of the year.  Rothsay came out on fire taking a 44-38 halftime lead.  The teams were tied at the end of regulation, forcing overtime.  Parkers Prairie went 8-for-8 from the free throw line in the extra session, posting a 77-70 win.

Both teams cooled off and traded leads throughout the second half.  With the game tied at 67 Rothsay senior Tanner Heier went the length of the floor and missed a shot to win it just before time expired.  In overtime Parkers Prairie took control, mainly from the free throw line.

"Tonight we recognized our seniors in their last regular season home game in Bill Rose Gymnasium,” said Rothsay Head Coach Taylor Fuhs.  “I was really proud how all of our players came out with a lot of energy and intensity."

Rothsay was led by Tanner Heier and Matt Danielson with 19 each.  Sam Danielson contributed 12, while 8th grader Karson Jensen chipped in 11.

"We have been led by our four seniors- Jett Kulack, Tanner Heier, Chris Carrillo, and Sam Danielson all year,” added Coach Fuhs.  “It was great to see them play so hard and compete at a high level once again as they wrap up their regular season career at Bill Rose Gymnasium."

Rothsay was led by Tanner Heier and Matt Danielson with 19 each.  Sam Danielson contributed 12, while 8th grader Karson Jensen chipped in 11.

The Tigers will look to end a nine game losing streak on Tuesday when they travel to Swanville.
