Each team hit 8 3’s on Monday night in Ortonville and the Hillcrest Comets were able to put the Trojans away, 84-50.  Sam Brumfield had 25 and Noah Brumfield added 24 to lead Hillcrest.

Justin Petersen added 17 and Zayne Weinrich had 9 for Hillcrest.

“I wasn’t impressed by our energy early in the game,” stated Comets Head Coach Ryan Garvin.  “Some of the things we talked about doing in the locker room did not translate on the court.  I focus needs to improve as we headed to these final weeks.  Offensively, Even though he scored 45 points in the first half, we settled a lot and took unnecessary contested shots.  I was glad that we settle down a little bit and attached the rim a bit more.”

Owen Longnecker scored 21 points to lead the Trojans.

Garvin added, “It was great to have Caden Fischer back in our lineup after he missed all of last week.  Great to see his smile as he was coming off the floor.  He has never been a huge stats guy, but we are not the same without him.”

Hillcrest (15-5) goes to St. John’s Prep on Tuesday and plays at Underwood on Friday.
