The M State Men’s Basketball team put together a solid game on Saturday afternoon as they knocked off the seventh-ranked team in the nation, Rochester, 90-79 in Fergus Falls. The Spartans shot 48.4% (31-64) from the field, made 37% (13-35) of their 3’s and assisted on 18 of their 31 made baskets.
Leaders for M State were Mert Taylor (26 points), Langston Davis (14 points, 9 rebounds, 7 assists, 3 blocks), Nic Pearson (14 points), Brett Engelmeyer (13 points, 7 rebounds) and Renell Edwards (8 assists, 4 rebounds, 2 steals, 5 points). Larrie Bell chipped in with 9 points.
For Rochester, Peyton Dunham came off the bench to register a double-doubles (11 points, 10 rebounds). Keivonte Watts led them with 26 points, while adding 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Quentin Williams also had a double-double (12 points, 10 rebounds) and Devyn Frye had 12 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists.
M State will close out their schedule with road games at St. Cloud on Wednesday and against Ridgewater in Willmar next Saturday.
