M State rallied for a 14 point first half deficit by going on a 29-7 run to end the half, taking a 42-34 halftime lead over Anoka-Ramsey on Wednesday night. The Spartans couldn’t hold their lead, which increased to ten points early in the second half, as the Golden Rams fought back for a 71-68 win in Fergus Falls.
M State continued their shooting woes, making only 2-of-29 (6.9%) from beyond the mark and 24-of-69 (34.8%) field goal attempts overall. Langston Davis (22 points, 13 rebounds) registered a double-double, Larrie Bell added 15 points and Mert Taylor was also in double digits with 10. Nic Pearson (8 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists) and Renell Edwards (8 points, 4 steals) also contributed.
Devin Wade-Henderson had a team high 20 points for Anoka-Ramsey. He was joined in double digits by Elijah Mead with 14 and Jacob Say with 13. Ontario Chapman led the visitors with 11 rebounds and Say had a team high 5 assists and 3 steals. The Golden Rams shot 46.6% (27-58) from the floor and made 43.5% (10-23) of their 3-point shots.
M State held a 42-29 advantage on the boards and made 18-of-27 free throws (66.7%). Anoka-Ramsey was 7-for-12 on the line.
M State (7-13, 1-7 MCAC South) will host St. Cloud in a makeup game at 6:30pm on Thursday night, before heading to Austin on Saturday for an afternoon game against Riverland.
