The New York Mills boys’ basketball team had a very busy week and an important week as they battled two conference opponents for the second time this season and also faced the Frazee Hornets in a non-conference contest. All three school are Class AA teams, making them highly valuable in the QRF ratings.
“On Tuesday we faced our Highway 10 rival, Wadena-Deer Creek in Wadena and they gave us all we could handle in a super tight game throughout,” commented Head Coach Mike Baune. “Eventually our experience pulled through and we pulled out a 75-68 victory.”
On Friday the Eagles beat Menahga 70-68 when Tate Olson hit a bank shot from about 30 feed at the buzzer.
“On Saturday, we finally played really well as a team and had some hot shooting from outside, a rarity for us, to propel us to a 69-35 victory over Frazee,” concluded Coach Baune.
New York Mills (15-1) will play road games at Pillager on Thursday night and at Rothsay on Saturday afternoon.
