Ridgewater Men Hold Off Spartans for 91-89 Victory

The Ridgewater Men's basketball team shot 53% (35-66) from the floor and made 8-of-17 (47%) 3's in their 91-89 win over M State on Wednesday night in Fergus Falls.  The Spartans were 9-of-45 (20%) from 3-point range and finished with a field goal percentage of 39.5% (34-86).

Ridgewater led 46-31 at the half and increased their lead to 17 points early in the second half.   With the Spartans leading 10-9 the Warriors went on an 8 point run to take a 17-10 lead and never trailed again.  M State pulled to within a point at 57-56 late in the game.

The Warriors were led by 23 points and 10 rebounds from Jaylyn ClardyCartier Bickley added 19 points and 7 rebounds, Deron Lacy scored 16 points and Chris Neal hit 4-of-6 3's for his 12 points.  Menelik Garrick had 9 rebounds and DJ Brown dished out a team high 4 assists.

The Spartans had five players in double figures and two with double-doubles.  They were led by Langston Davis (25 points, 11 rebounds) and Larrie Bell (16 points, 11 rebounds).  Mert Taylor added 15 points, Nic Perason had 13 and Brett Engelmeyer finished with 10.  Renell Edwards contributed 6 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals.  Davis also had 4 assists and Engelmeyer led the team with 4 steals.

M State took good care of the ball with only 11 turnovers, while forcing 22 Ridgewater turnovers.

M State (7-10) will host Western Tech on Saturday at 3:00pm.
