Ellie Welch (20) and Morgan Korf (17) combined for 37 points on Tuesday night in Wadena as the Pelican Rapids girls’ basketball team recorded a 54-29 non-conference victory over the Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines. Welch drained 4 of the Vikings 6 made 3-pointers in the game.
Pelican Rapids led 22-12 at the half with Welch hitting 3 of her 4 3’s in the half. Korf added 4 assists, 4 rebounds and 2 steals, Welch snared 6 rebounds and Kelsey Isaman dished out 3 assists. Tori Stephenson also grabbed 4 boards.
The Wolverines were led by Addyson Gravelle with 11 points, including making all four of her free throws. WDC was a perfect 8-for-8 on the foul line. Madison Packer added 5 points.
Pelican Rapids (11-5) will host DGF in a Heart O’ Lakes Conference contest on Friday night. The Vikings are 4-2 against HOL teams.
Wadena-Deer Creek (8-6) will close out the week with road games at New York Mills on Thursday and at Perham on Friday.
