Rochester got off to a fast start on Saturday, taking a 21-9 lead after the first quarter and building that lead to 36-19 at the half as they went on to defeat the M State lady Spartans 77-37 in a MCAC Southern Division clash on the Yellowjackets home floor.
M State shot 35% (16-46) from the field and Rochester connected on 39% (31-79) of their field goal attempts. The Yellowjackets also held a 40-28 edge on the boards.
Kandace Sikkink led Rochester with 20 points and 9 rebounds. Olivia Christianson added 17 points and 7 steals, and Danika Jones wound up with 14 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals.
M State was led by 12 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists from Emily Dehler. Nyssa Vogel added 10 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists.
M State (7-6) will travel to Worthington Monday night for a makeup game with Minnesota West.
