The Hancock boys’ basketball team shot 49% (25-51) from the field in their 67-60 win over New York Mills on Saturday, ending the Eagles 12 game winning streak in the process. Matt Thompson had a huge day, scoring 36 points and grabbing 17 rebounds to lead the Owls who are now 10-3.
Hudson VerSteeg was also in double figures with 11 points and Sebastian Felix contributed 8. Luke Joos had a team high 6 assists and also led the Owls with 4 steals.
Tate Olson led 3 Eagles in double digits with 18. Noah Noffsinger had 15 and Jonah Johnson 14. New York Mill shot 47% (24-51) from the field.
Hancock is home Monday against Rothsay and on the road Tuesday at Battle Lake.
New York Mills (12-1) will host Wadena-Deer Creek on Tuesday night.
