Colbeck Reaches 2000 Career Points as Otters Defeat Hawley

Fergus Falls senior Ellie Colbeck reached 2,000 career points on Thursday night as she poured in a game high 27 to lead the Otters past the Hawley Nuggets 67-54 in a Section 8AA battle at the Kennedy Secondary School Gold Gymnasium.  Colbeck just missed a triple-double, securing 10 rebounds and dishing out 8 assists in the win.

Hannah Polejewski came close to a double-double, scoring 12 points and snaring 9 rebounds.  Tori Ratz contributed 12 points and 7 assists and Ainsley Hansen finished with 7 points and 8 boards.

The Otters held a 34-23 edge on the boards and only had 8 turnovers on the night.

Izzy Steer led Hawley with 15 points.  Kylie Crabtree had 12 and Anna Steer 11 for the Nuggets, who hit nine 3’s in the contest.  They also took good care of the ball, with only 11 turnovers.

Hannah (Draxten) Clark and Bailey Strand are the other two Fergus Falls girls' baskteball players to reach the 2,000 point milestone in their high school careers.

Fergus Falls (10-4) will play at Detroit Lakes on Saturday afternoon.

Hawley (10-3) will host Breckenridge in a Heart O’ Lakes Conference game next Tuesday.
