Alexandria scored a first period goal on the power play, but that was all the lady Cards could muster against Ana Jyrkas who stopped the other 15 shots she faced in the Fergus Falls net and the Otters went on to post a 3-1 Central Lakes Conference girls’ hockey road win on Thursday night.

Alexandria’s goal came from Lauren Rebrovich at 8:12 of the opening period.  Assists were awarded to Kennedy Ellingson and Hanley Block.

Fergus Falls pulled even on the first of three goals on the night by Maddie Hulter at 2:58 of the second period.  Hulter was assisted by Tyra Skjeret and Gabby Brimhall.

Hulter’s second goal of the game came at 6:53 of the third and proved to be the game winner.  Hope Goepferd and Skjeret assisted on the goal.  A power play goal capped the hat trick for ‘The Kid’ at 16:43 of the third.  Piper Andrews earned the assist.

Fergus Falls put 38 shots on the Alexandria goal.  HaileeAnn Bailey (15 saves) and Jordan O’Kane (20 saves) split the goaltending duties for the Cards.

“We raised the bar tonight as far as game intensity and expectations,” commented Fergus Falls Head Coach Tim Lill.  “The Kid” Hulter did what we expect of her.  She’s a goal scorer, but we also had 19 others that did everything that was needed to win.  Alex got pretty salty in the third.  Old fashioned hockey builds character, great team win.”

The Otters (13-3-2) will host Sartell on Tuesday and play at Crookston next Thursday night.

Alexandria (8-7-1) had their five game winning streak snapped with the loss.  They will play a home game against Breck on Saturday afternoon.
