The Pelican Rapids boys’ basketball team went to Breckenridge and registered a 55-43 Heart O’ Lakes Conference road victory over the Cowboys on Thursday night. The Vikings led 20-16 at the half and out-scored the home team 35-27 in the second half.
Timmy Guler led Pelican with 23 points and Tanner Tollerud was also in double figures with 10.
“We lacked some energy overall tonight and Breckenridge did a nice job of getting the pace of the game to how they wanted it,” noted Head Coach John Gullingsrud of the Vikings. “We had a couple of little runs in the second half that enabled us to stretch the lead out to double digits, but we had a hard time finding consistency on either end of the floor.”
Alex Sanchez led Breckenridge with 12 points and Dylan Bernotas added 10.
The Vikings (10-3) won for a sixth straight time. They will host DGF next Tuesday in another HOL battle.
Breckenridge (1-10) clashed with border rival Wahpeton on Saturday at the NDSCS Activity Center at 6:30pm.
