Pelican Rapids improved to 9-3 on the season as they recorded their fifth straight win on Tuesday night, beating the Barnesville Trojans 64-59 in a Heart O’ Lakes Conference contest.

“It is very difficult to go into Barnesville and get a win in their gym and we knew it would take some grit and toughness from our guys to do it,” stated Pelican Rapids Head Coach John Gullingsrud. “It was a close game throughout and all three of our leading scorers made some big shots down the stretch to get us a lead in the final few minutes which we were able to hang on to.”

Timmy Guler paced the Vikings with 20 points.  Ian Fahje and Luke Sjolie were also in double figures with 16 and 12 points, respectively.

Barnesville also had three players reach double digits, led by Tate Inniger with 18.  Kaden Zenzen added 16 and Zach Bredman contributed a dozen.  Inniger added 7 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals, Zenzen had 8 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 steals, Bredman dished out 4 assists, and Noah Krause added 5 assists, 6 rebounds and 4 steals to go along with 4 points.  Barnesville shot 50% (22/44) from the field.
