The Hancock girls’ basketball team paid a visit to Underwood on Monday night and the lady Owls remained unbeaten with an impressive 53-38 victory over the Rockets.

Hancock shot the ball extremely well, making 55.3% (21-38) of their field goal attempts.  Hancock had a 26-17 advantage on the boards.  They were led by Carlee Hanson (13 points, 6 rebounds, 4 steals), Kaitlyn Rohloff (12 points, 6 assists) and Kaitlyn Staples (10 points).  Karleigh Rohloff added 6 points and 6 assists, and Misti Zempel had 8 points and 7 rebounds.  Tori Pahl had a team leading 8 rebounds.

Liz Lukken scored 13 points to lead Underwood.  Mo Bugbee added 9 points and 4 rebounds, and Kallyn Grove had 5 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals.  Underwood shot 39% (16-41) on the night.

“Hancock is a very good team, we did not do a very good job in the first half getting into a flow offensively,” noted Underwood Head Coach Brian Hovland.  “We did not handle their pressure well at all, 11 of our 13 turnovers came in the first half.  On top of that we shot the ball poorly. The second half I thought we played a much better game.  We have a busy week with three more games so we need to bounce back quickly.”

Underwood (10-2) has home games against Lake Park-Audubon on Tuesday and Rothsay on Friday, before heading to Barrett on Saturday afternoon to face West Central Area.

Hancock (11-0) hosts Brandon-Evansville on Tuesday, travel to Wheaton on Thursday and return home to host New York Mills on Saturday.
