Twelve Different Otters Score Goals in 12-1 Win Over DL

Twelve different Otters scored goals and fifteen players contributed to the scoring as Fergus Falls jumped out to an 8-0 first period lead on the way to a 12-1 victory over Detroit Lakes on Saturday at the Community Arena.  Each team had 26 shots on goal.  Ana Jyrkas stopped 25 DL shots.

Kiara Grady got the party started with a goal 31 seconds into the contest, assisted by Jadyn Bye.  A goal by Tyra Skjeret 18 seconds later made it 2-0.  Assists went to Desirae Maack and Maddie Hulter.  At 5:19 McKenzie Sjolie scored from Rachel DeBrito and 16 seconds after that Piper Andrews found the back of the net with assists from Hope Goepferd and Bye.  Hulter completed a stretch of 3 goals in 39 seconds off an assist from Vanessa Vaughn at 5:58.  At 7:51, Skye Norgren notched an unassisted goal and at 9:09 Hulter assisted on a goal by Maack.  The final goal of the opening period was an unassisted tally by Rylynn Krein.

In the second period, Talia Nelson scored from Gabby Brimhall at 4:26 and Goepferd recorded an unassisted goal at 9:52.  Hannah Johnson’s goal at 16:10 was setup by Sjolie and gave the Otters an 11-0 lead.

Detroit Lakes scored 3:50 into the third period, an unassisted goal by Emma Coley.  The Otters finished the scoring with just 10 seconds left in the game when Rachel DeBrito buried the puck, unassisted.

Fergus Falls (13-3-2) will travel to Alexandria on Thursday night for a Central Lakes Conference matchup with the Cardinals.
