Jack Mekalson scored 22 points and pulled down 8 rebounds to lead the Battle Lake boys’ basketball team to a 66-32 Little Eight Conference victory in Underwood on Thursday night. Mason Dalluge was also in double digits with 12 points, while grabbing 8 boards.
Owen Buehler added 7 points, 4 rebounds, 6 assists and 3 steals, while Drew Johnson dropped in 8 points and secured 6 rebounds for the Battlers.
“We had some great looks at the basket to start the game, but couldn’t finish,” commented Head Coach Randy Dorn of Battle Lake. “We did a better job of finishing towards the end of the half to go into halftime with a 36-20 lead. The bench did a great job of contributing towards this win.”
The win was the fifth straight for the Battlers who are now 5-5 overall and 3-2 against conference teams. Their Friday night home game with Ashby has been postponed. The Battlers will play Monday night at New York Mills.
Underwood (1-10) will travel to Fergus Falls on Tuesday night for a LEC matchup with Hillcrest Lutheran Academy.
