It was quite a competitive first half in Evansville Thursday night as Melrose held a 27-26 lead at the break, however, the visitors then dominated the second half, 34-18 and took a 61-44 victory over the Chargers.

“First off, Melrose deserves a lot of credit on playing a good basketball game tonight,” commented Brandon-Evansville Head Coach Zach Traphagen. “I thought we competed and played hard. We had some really good looks at the basket that rimmed out, and Melrose had some shots go in at key points in the second half. That's what basketball ultimately comes down to is making shots, and tonight Melrose did a better job of that than us. It wasn't for a lack of effort on our part. We did some really good things tonight that we can build off of moving forward, and that's what's most important to me.”

Olivia Otto was the high point scorer for B-E with 16.  She also had 4 rebounds.  Kylee Dingwall added 10 points, 3 assists, 4 rebounds and 4 steals.

Brandon-Evansville (5-6) was scheduled to host Ashby on Friday night, however, that game has been postponed.  Their next game will be Tuesday night in Hancock.
