Fergus Falls hosted Northern Lakes in a girls’ hockey contest on Thursday at the Community Arena and the two teams wound up in a 3-3 overtime tie.

“Hats off to the Northern Lakes goalie,” said Fergus Falls Head Coach Tim Lill.  “We put 45 shots on net, 20 of them Grade A opportunities.  We just couldn’t bury the puck.  Maddie Hulter scored a couple of beauties and Piper Andrews ripped a poor-angled laser over the glove also.  We need to clean up the puck slappin’ and control play moving forward.”

Hulter got the scoring started at 8:42 of the first period with an assist from Jadyn Bye.  A power play goal by Rose Aldridge tied the game at 10:50 of the opening period.  The goal was assisted by Jada Brodzinski and Megan Muller.  Northern Lakes took a 2-1 lead with 1:38 left in the period when Aldridge scored from Ava Mertz and Riley Fogarty.

An unassisted goal by Fogarty 24 seconds into the second period gave the visitors a 3-1 lead.  Andrews notched a power play goal midway through the second period with Hulter and Marilyn Karsnia assisting.

Hulter tied the game at 5:53 of the final period with assists from Andrews and Gabby Brimhall.

Fergus Falls (12-3-2) will host Detroit Lakes in a makeup game on Saturday at 6:00pm.
